Bio

My Story

Rabbi Stacy Petersohn grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and its Jewish community.  She immersed herself in synagogue life, participating in choir, Purim shpiels, and started to develop her love for learning and teaching Torah and Hebrew.  She spent nine summers at URJ Camps Swig and Newman, broadening her understanding of living Jewishly.  As a college student, Rabbi Petersohn graduated from University of San Francisco with honors with a BA in Performing Arts and Social Justice, minoring in Jewish Studies and Social Justice.  Before starting her rabbinic studies, Rabbi Petersohn spent a year living in Jerusalem, Israel, and attending the Pardes Institute for Jewish Studies. 

In addition to Rabbinic Ordination, she received an MA in Jewish Education and an MA in Hebrew Letters from HUC-JIR. Rabbi Petersohn also participated in the Rabbis Without Borders fellowship, the iCenter for Israel Education’s educator program, and is certified in Positive Education. Rabbi Petersohn has served in a variety of communities, and is currently serving as the Director of Lifelong Jewish Learning for Congregation B'nai Israel in Sacramento, CA. In her spare time, Rabbi Petersohn loves to travel and has explored various cities and countries in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
